I haven't posted on my blog in almost a year, but I read an article today that completely enraged me so here goes nothing.
Lani Seelinger writes an article, "Why The Anti-Abortion Movement Is Out Of Touch With Reality," posted on Elitedaily.com. The link to the article is right below.

After reading this article by Lani Seelinger, I immediately came up with, what I call, a "counter-title." The fact that Seelinger considers me "out of touch with reality" proves that she doesn't even know the true definition of the word "reality."
According to our trusty Merriam-Webster Dictionary, reality is defined as "the state or quality of having existence or substance." How in the world is she able to tell me that I'm out of touch with reality, when, between the two of us, I'm the only one that is actually acknowledging existence and substance? She doesn't even make one note of existence in her article, or even acknowledge the baby, not even to the slightest extent. Even if she doesn't believe that that little baby in the womb is a human, she cannot deny that there is substance in the womb. If she does deny it, she must have never laid her eyes on an ultrasound before.
That being said, Lani Seelinger, I believe it is you who is out of touch with reality.
Now onto the very first line of her article.
Seelinger states, "In Texas, the anti-choicers are trying to shut down a court system that desperate teenagers can use to get an abortion without their parents' consent."
Wait, what? Let me first say that Seelinger's use of the word "desperate" is completely wrong. Let's go back to good ole Merriam-Webster and see what she has to say about the word "desperate."
"Desperate: adjective: feeling a hopeless sense that a situation is so bad as to be impossible to deal with"
First off, when has anyone ever trusted a teenage girl with her feelings? I've been a teenage girl before, and let me tell you my life was an emotional roller coaster. Teenage girls have a hard enough time deciding how they're going to do their hair in the morning, yet you want to allow them the decision to kill their innocent baby?
And as for the word "impossible" in the definition, last time I checked, giving birth to a baby is far from impossible.
A little further down in her article she says, "the teen must prove she is mature enough to choose an abortion and that telling her parents would put her in some kind of danger."
So the court is actually encouraging young girls to keep secrets from their parents? Well that sure shows our court systems nowadays.
Seelinger then states in her article that women are "trying to exercise the right of control over their own bodies."
But ya see, IT'S NOT JUST YOUR BODY ANYMORE. Goodness gracious, people.
Because of your own actions, you have now added +1 to the equation. You are now housing a human being. Even in cases of rape, it may not have been your actions that conceived a child, but nonetheless your body has become a shelter for that little one, and you are no longer the sole inhabitant.
She then goes on to call abortion "a necessary procedure." Hey, Merriam-Webster, can I get a definition of the word necessary for 500 please?
"Necessary: adjective: required to be done; essential"
How in the world is abortion essential? Even if a woman wasn't ready to be a mother yet, ever heard of adoption? Can't a mother suck up pregnancy for a mere 9 months in order to give their child the opportunity to live 80 years? Or has our world become so selfish that 9 months of pregnancy is just too much to bear?
Seelinger then concludes that her brilliant solution to fewer abortions is by providing "comprehensive eduction about birth control."
Well, Lani, I'd love to educate you on birth control and its horrible effects on hormones, brain cells, and also how it is now being found to cause cancer. Not to mention it takes a natural act that has a main purpose of pro-creation, and turns it into an unnatural, self-centered act.
No thanks, Lani, I'll pass on using birth control.
Last but not least, Seelinger states, "Making [abortions] illegal increases the likelihood of unsafe abortions."
So......suicide is usually done in horrible, unsafe ways. If someone wants to kill themselves, let's just tell them to go to a doctor so that way the doctor can kill them in a safe, secure way. Cause that makes so much sense.
All in all, I have concluded that it is not I who is out of touch with reality, but it is you, Seelinger, who is out of touch with humanity.
"Humanity: noun: the quality or state of being humane"
