"I'll Show Them."

It happens all the time. We have a falling out with someone and leave with the attitude, “Well, I’ll show them.” Someone doesn’t show us kindness or respect, so we decide that we’re not going to show them any either. We give them the cold shoulder like we’re trying to teach them a lesson, as if it’s our job to teach them a lesson.

I’ve tried this approach many times, and, unsurprisingly, I’m never satisfied with the results. It's an "eye for an eye" mentality that is so detrimental to not only ourselves, but those around us as well. "Oh? You're going to be like that? Well I’ll show you." And you know what? It never leaves me empowered or with any sense of entitlement. It leaves me feeling empty inside.

I’ve come to realize that when my Judgement Day rolls around, all excuses go out the window, and the brutal truth will come out. I will not be able to say, “Well, God, they did this and this and this to me,” because in that moment God will not care what anyone else did. God will look me straight in the eye and say,

“But what did you do to fix it?”

Uhhhh...the brutal truth? I did nothing...

..until now.

So I’ve decided to add on to “I’ll show them.”

I will show them. But I will show them kindness. I will show them love. I will show them respect.

I’ll teach them a lesson, but it will be a different kind of lesson. It will be a lesson that will help the both of us get to Heaven.

Women's March: An Eye for An Eye

Disclaimer: In this post I'm choosing to put all personal beliefs aside. I'm strictly talking about the content seen in the march itself, and nothing else. And no, this does not pertain to all women who were present, just the vulgar ones.

I've seen many photos from this Women's March, and I can't help but feel so much sadness from what many women claimed to be proud to represent.

Pictures of the middle finger flashing on cardboard in the midst of the crowd, signs containing curse words spewed around as if this is the loving language that will make our world a better place, "Don't Worry, We Still Hate You, Walker" (yes, an actual sign from those proclaiming "love"), inappropriate and vulgar use of male and female body parts plastered on signs in clear view to the eyes of the children standing right beside them. I could go on, but I'm already feeling sick.

These signs are mean, vulgar, and crude.

Now a real quick question. If I'm correct, wasn't one of the reasons that this Women's March started is because Donald Trump is mean, vulgar, and crude???

You all are protesting by using the exact same tactics as the man that you are protesting about. Think about that for a second...does that really make any sense?

This was far from a "Women's" March based solely on the fact that the majority of what I saw was hate. Women are not full of hate. Women are intrinsically filled with love, it's in our nature. But not yesterday. Yesterday many were fueled by hate, revenge, and pure disdain.

You all are fighting because you demand respect, but by the looks of it, many of you don't even know how to show respect any better than Donald Trump himself.

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. And honestly, based on yesterday, I believe our world is just that- absolutely blind.
